Nikon D90, Sigma 17-70 @ 21mm, 10s @ f/8, ISO 200.

Adjusted with slight crop in Aperture.

Taken in Texas as a storm was passing over.
This was my first time taking pictures of a storm. Got lucky with a few frames.
All critique welcome.
My assessment: Should have had the camera pointing up more, more sky, less ground. Also, maybe a higher ISO and lower f-stop.

Overall, I think it's a pretty cool shot from the porch.

Very cool Alan, the lightning couldn't have branched any better for you from the perspective you had. If it were me I would crop up 1/4 from the bottom so its more of a panoramic. That would emphasize the lightning and limit the large empty black space. Really cool shot!

I think you caught and exceptional bolt, Alan. I agree with Thomas about cropping some off the bottom. I would also think about cloning out the power pole.

Awesome, but I'd definitely crop out the power pole. And, I, too, would crop some off the bottom or darken the bottom like a silhouette. :wavey:

That is very cool lightning capture, Alan. I'm fine with the power pole as it seems to add a bit more drama (for me anyways) but I can see the crop of the bottom some. Cool shot!
