Thank you for you comment Hans. It was at freshwater waterhole near the dump at the abandoned building SW of Laem Bak Bia, see http://www.thaibirding.com/locations/central/lpb.htm. Heaps of birds were drinking there after spending a hot day on the salt flats.

Nice as posted. I usually don't see tringa sandpipers in water that deep.

Nice, Simon. Excellent detail, nice water quality and reflection, though I do wish that blur hadn't been over the eye in the reflection.

Sweet shot. :toast: The detail is holding up to the 2X. The comp is very nice. The reflection helps fill the space even if it is slightly broken. The BG and tones are very good. What appears to be some OOF vegetation that you were shooting through is there, but does not bother me in any way. The low angle is always a plus.

Nice reflection and light in this one Simon. I am very surprised at your sharpness with the 2X. Are you using it on the old 500mm or the new one...the 500mm II? If the old one, I am wondering if you feel the 5D MIII is making a difference? Because this combo is notoriously soft in comparison to using the 1.4 TC.

Thank you all for your comments.

Kurt, I'm using the old EF500 f/4 IS with the latest Canon Extender EF 2x III on the 5D3 with lens/extender calibrated using micro-adjustment to +2. When using the combination I tend to stop down a bit. Attached is a 100% crop. regards Simon
