Hawk Owl & prey II

Another of the images from Tuesday of the Northern Hawk Owl. This was captured two frames earlier than the previous post and is a bit more graphic. I choose to go with a more horizontal crop here, but the techs are fairly similar.

I'd love to hear which one you favor, and thanks.

I've watched our cats eat too many voles to be bothered by the graphic content, but I still prefer the first post,, Chuck. Mainly becaulse the Owl was unobscured and the open beak added something for my taste. I think I'd be tempted to crop this one to an 8x10 format with t he 8 horizontal. I think the bird is worth emphasizing a bit more and I don't think you'd lose too much of that sweet bg.

Charles, Another super mood shot. This one has a little stronger nature story with the actual eating, but my favorite is your first post. The mood and feel to that trump this one for me. :toast:

though I like the mouthful here, I too prefer the first one. that pose was so engaging, where this one feels a little more static/isolated from the viewer. (not that I wouldn't love to have taken this one too.)

Another nice moment captured Chuck. I also prefer the first pose, but certainly wouldn't throw this one out.

Very cool shot...but too dark for me. I would use NIK to brighten the bird and the rodent and keep the rest of the photo the same.. :wavey:
