Poppy Heaven

by Kathy Barnhart

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted March 14, 2014193 views6 comments
Even though this is the third year of a drought, nature works its miracles and produces incredible spring poppies in patches at Mt.Diablo State Park in northern California.

Canon 5d, M3, f/18, 35mm, 1/160.

Comments and critiques welcome. Thanks in advance.

Excellent! The composition is wonderful. Foreground and the valley below shared with the viewer is something we can all identify with and long to ‘be there’. The S - curve in the valley and way the shadows and light play on the hillsides pulls the eye out to the furtherest horizon… a pleasure. Only one nit…the patchy blue dark sky seems to indicate an uneven application of a neutral density filter or polarizer. Well done!

Have never been out to see the poppies, but look forward to seeing pictures of them every year. The person in the frame adds a lovely sense of tranquility to the overall scene.

Nice composition and a lovely scene. I used to wander around Diablo when I lived in Walnut Creek many years ago. It's a great place to relax.
