Swimming monkeys

This photo is of a Asian macaque monkey taken in Langkawi, Malaysia. I was not ready when they jumped in to the water, nor was I expecting the mom to jump in with the baby. The image quality is low however I thought I would share what I captured with the Wildlife forum. Photo was edited in Photoshop, and taken in February 2014.

These monkeys are aggressive. On another tour when I was walking on a boardwalk trail, I came across a group of these monkeys. I made the mistake of imitating the sound they made. The leader came towards me screaming with arm movements and I got the message to back off. These were not good enough for them and they began to chase me. The local guides nearby got to see me run at full speed with around 25 pounds of camera equipment on my back. After the run we all had a good laugh. Lesson learned, never imitate a monkey!!

Quality of the larger image is not any better:

Nice behavioral shot. However, I so wish they had been facing the camera, at least a bit. Without at least a glimpse of the faces, the image loses a lot of its impact. I bet it was fun to witness all of this. Thanks for sharing.

Too bad we missed that baby's face! How fast is "full speed" with 25 pounds in a camera pack? I'm glad it didn't degenerate into anything serious. These kinds of things become the story memories that last a long time.

Thank you Lon, I would have liked to have taken multiple shots with better settings, however I got only (1) shot in all the frenzy.
lol, not fast at all with the camera bag. I would have looked comical from the view of the locals who had seem me. It was about time though, I was inviting new stories and memories from my short travel escapes and these made my day.
