Steve, I like the concept but it has a few technical issues. Is this a significant crop off the original? if you look around the edges, particularly in the upper left you can see the artifacting (bands of colors). Ditto on the left inside petals of the flower. There are also a lot of breaks / jaggies around the edges of the flower and what seems to be some color separations (individual red, green or blue pixels) in the flower's interior. The interior of the flower shows nicely, but in getting those shadows opened up, you are clipping on the surface of the petal in the upper right. Lastly, this looks to be one of the hybrids rather than one of our native lilies and as such, it wouldn't be a subject we would normally be after in a nature forum. You have the right idea and a creative viewpoint. Find another subject and keep at it.

Steve, I agree with Rick's thoughtful comments and recommendations except only for his comment about posting images of hybrid vs. native flowers. While Rick is certainly entitled to his view, and others may agree with him, there is no requirement at NPN that allows only native floral subjects. As for your image, I like the comp (except for the encroaching object in the LLC), and I like your use of the contrasting deep blue sky against the yellow lily, but your image, as posted, is suffering from significant technical issues as discussed by Rick. :wavey:
