This is another photograph I made from my trip to The Palouse last Jan/Feb. The cattle began approaching as I was photographing the light on the hills in the background. I liked how the older cows seemed to keep the youngsters contained in the middle. I was also really attracted to the light and patterns on the hills in the background. Large image posted. C&C always appreciated. Thanks for looking.

That is a pretty cool image. Where is this?
Looks much better to me when viewed large. I like the snow flying in front of the cows. Texture of hills up top is awesome. Only thing I think I would change is to crop the top, cutting out some sky a bit and make whole thing wider. Being really picky, I would clone out the darker spot at bottom center right.

Bet this would look really nice as a big wide print.
Nice work,
Al

Louis. Thank you for your comments.

Alan. This is in The Palouse region of southeast Washington. I can't recall exactly where this image was made. When my wife and I travel to places like The Palouse, we just bring a Delourme road atlas and drive the back roads, looking for interesting scenes. We stayed in Pullman, WA, so this is going to be within 20-30 minutes drive of that town. We never ventured much further than that, as we kept stopping to take pictures. I agree about cloning out the dark spot at the top, and perhaps also changing it to a 16:9 pano format. I'll give it a try.

As someone who grew up on a cattle ranch in Wyoming, I really like this. I think it's a great portrayal of both the livestock and the country. The hills just seem to fade away into the whiteness of the snowy BG, and there is definitely the effect of the falling snow between the camera and the cows. The larger image is really nice. :toast:

I would simply crop a bit at the bottom to remove that line of grass for a cleaner look. Really love the scene though.
