Winter's Window

The view from an old forest service cabin I rented this past week in the backcountry of Montana. The light on the snowy landscape is natural, coming from the nearly full moon rising over the trees.

Thanks for looking and for any comments, and don't forget to check out the larger version!

Techs:
3 exposures, focus stacked, all 30 Sec. @ f/2.8, ISO 1000, 11mm

Hi Zack
I just love those old cabin windows to look out of. What a view! What a place! Great feel! Makes me want to be there now!

Very cool, Zack. I like this comp and, man, it looks like daylight. Nice use of focus stacking here. Something I gotta try. Great work.

Sweet image Zack, I can totally imagine myself in a place like this; away from it all, roaring fire, glass of 12 year old scotch enjoying the view. :toast:

This is perfect… snow on the trees…huge icicles…and ..oops..need a reflection in the window of a crackling fire… or scruffy table in foreground with steaming cup of coffee. Beauty. What a great place to be. Good job working on distortion for that 11mm shot…not an easy task.

Lovely view, Zack. I like the framing through the window and the scene outside is wonderfully inviting. Until I read your description, I thought that this was a daylight view and the points of light in the sky were cold weather snow crystals sparkling in the sun. Knowing that it's a night shot has me thinking about the artistic question of showing this as captured or trying convey that it is a night scene.....maybe some day I'll have an answer.
