Florida's Monkeys

Here's one of my shots of the Rhesus monkeys from Mike Ramy's boat last week. (We had a terrific time and he really knows the area.) This youngster was part of the same group as Mike's post and he seemed to like sitting on this cypress knee...seems likely to be uncomfortable to me...but I'm not a monkey. [5D3, 400mm f5.6, 1/200s, f/8, iso 800, tripod (might have helped a little), 83% of full frame]

WOW! This is very nice. Love everything about it, especially the expression. The only thing that might make this better is monkey underpants. (smile)

I like the intent view and your placement of him in the frame, interesting that the monkeys are doing well there. :toast:

Just an excellent photo. No nits, except the excessive cyan in the chest and stomach fur.

The back story on these monkeys—the original colony of these was turned loose from a tour boat in 1938 at Silver Springs on an island, but the monkeys learned to swim and escaped. They have now spread all over Northeast Florida, to the tune of about 1000. They are considered a health hazard, as most of them are infected with Herpes-B virus.

Hey Mark,
This shot came out really well, the colors simply POP off the screen and this little guy gave us some great poses during our encounter with the group.
Well Done . . . :toast:

Nice look in the eyes here, Mark.

I had no idea there were wild monkeys in the States. Phil, thanks for the background on these animals.

Mark, very nice. excellent pose and detail. I would agree with Phil on an apparent slight cyan cast.
