Snack tree

I heard some scolding behind me and turned to see this squirrel in the shadows on a large branch. Apparently I had annoyed him as he was enjoying his snack. I liked the deep color of his coat. I got one shot before he took off. I would have liked to have been able to shift to get a better BG in the tree.

This is a large crop.

The squirrel is definitely sharp and has that nice tail over the head pose working. The image feels a little dark, quite possibly because of the shading of the foliage. In this case I think Viveza would help by letting you lighten the squirrel to let him separate from his surroundings better.

Hi John,

I like the positioning of the squirrel in the frame and its colour certainly draws one's eye. If you did choose to brighten up the image (as per Rick's suggestion) I would tend to go globally (rather than selectively on the squirrel only). As one who likes slightly darker images the brightness looks just fine to me as posted.

Cheers...

The squirrel is positioned nicely in the frame and the pose with the tail wrapped over the head is fine also. The tree adds some interesting shapes also.

To me, this is a successful capture. I like the rich colors, typical squirrel pose and the many textures.
