Accipiter cooperii

This Coopers Hawk has been a pretty frequent visitor to my backyard lately. Not sure I like that considering it is probably after all of the songbirds I feed and enjoy watching. I would have preferred my 500mm lens but could not get to it fast enough.

7D, EF100-400L IS
1/1000, f5.6
ISO 200
61% of full frame

All comments and critique are welcome and very appreciated.
Thank You.

Sweet shot of this beautiful bird. Nice pose, perch and BG and I love that red eye. I might like to see the head up just a bit but I expect he is looking down searching for the next meal.

Very sharp and well exposed. The 100-400 did a good job. The red eye and yellow legs really set this image off. Well done.

Excellent detail and head turn, Matt, and that's a killer bg. You made a wise choice to go with the lens at hand.

What we say in our house is, "We feed ALL of the birds.", and that includes the occasional loss to an Accipiter. This is a great look at this hawk that really shows the red eye and the big claws.

Nice looking adult cooper's, one of my favorite hawks as they can be very cooperative in my area.
