Black-crown Night Heron?

Near one of the lodges we were staying at in Argentina was a great little wetland area. Night herons and Ibises would roost in these bushes at night which made for a nice silhouette opportunities at sunrise.

I was pretty sure these were night herons until I was editing my photos and found this interesting looking fellow on the right.

Canon MKIV, 600mm & 1.4x, 1/160, f8. ISO 800, manual settings

Well balanced with good color. I like that the birds are mostly in the clear and recognizable despite the shrubbery.

Looks like an alien heron to me, Ken. Probably a Martian if I remember my childhood correctly. Sweet silhouette with wonderful sunrise color.

Colors in this one are fantastic Ken! Especially the banding of colors towards the top of the frame. Couldn't have placed these two in the frame better if you did it by hand.

Looks like BCNH to me. Wonderful image. Love these types of shots. That sky is just over the top beautiful and a very clear look at both silhouettes. Beautifully framed. Excellent Ken.
