Found my first Bittern today on a quick, early morning trip before my work meeting....priorities! He thought he was hidden, but luckily for me I was able to get off a few shots.

ISO 400

Good eye to pick it out! Good colors and detail, I do think you could crop it just a tad tighter. Well done for a HH with that lens. Thanks for sharing.

A great view of an elusive bird. You got some nice light to separate it from a difficult background. I don't mind the "loose" crop so much, because the grassy environment is pretty typical for where bitterns like to hide. However, I do think taking a sliver off the bottom (or cropping looser at the top, if possible) would help ground the bird more in the lower third of the frame.

Nice shot of a subject that is always hard to get out in the open. Most of mine are while they are skulking through the reeds and grasses. Well done.

Nice, Jason. Always great to find one of these. A nice typical Bittern pose and good light on it.
