Bonsai Rock Twilight

A recent photo after a stormy day from this iconic location at Lake Tahoe (Nevada side). I had high hopes for a colorful sunset, but it didn't materialize. I stuck around for a while and took some additional shots as the light faded. I greatly appreciate your thoughts about whether this "blue hour" take on the location works.

It works for me. The far mountains have a lot of detail and add a lot of depth.
I might add contrast and make the FG lake bed "pop" a bit more.

I think this works. NIcely composed with interest throughout the frame. The subdued light is also nice and gives this a peaceful mood.

Beautiful shot of Bonsai Rock...I think it works very well, even without colorful skies. I like the silky water, I assume it was a long exposure. The composition is very pleasing, also.

Thanks for the feedback so far. Kathy, the exposure time was 20 seconds.

This is beautiful, Phil. I had one evening in Tahoe last year and was pretty impressed. I think the color and shape balance well.

This works superbly Phil. I really like the cool tones, and the distant view to the mountains with the boulders in the foreground are sweet. :toast:

I like the placement of the elements and the cool tones. It does feel just a little cramped compositionally but that may be the size of the image at 720px.

This is wonderful! I'm just enjoying the look and mood of this shot so I think the "Blue Hour" take worked great. Looks like one of those images that would be at it's best large. Nice work! :toast:
