The french part of Jura is a bit different from the swiss Jura but also has a lot to offer. Deep in the forests you feel like standing in the middle of a rainforest.....while we were hiking to the Cascade des Flumens (an area with three huge waterfalls) we dicovered this forest scene.....while shooting this image the rain was really pourig down and the humidity made for an interesting look.

Wow, I didn't know you could find stuff THAT lush where you are Bill! That's PNW lush right there. Great find!

wouldn't have thought this was from France, Bill... the comp works well for me, which I guess is always the challenge with this subject matter

Wow, this exists in Europe??? I need to see this one day. Thanks for sharing.
The composition works well for me, and I like it a lot, but I have two observations: The smaller version looks cleaner, while the bare branches in the bigger version become more prominent and make things a bit "messy", particularly on the left side. But it's a minor thing, really. The other observation is the processing: I could be wrong, but looks like some "orton effect" or something similar. I am not sure if it adds to the image. Anyway, just two little things I noticed. Keep it up Bill!

Very nice indeed Bill, love the lush greens, and your comp works beautifully.

This was a neat find, Bill. You came up with a great comp and I like the looks of this very much. The textures are wonderful and I like the effect that shooting in the rain has. Nice work!

Love the lushness of this shot, Bill. So different than my desert SW. I think the comp you came up with works quite well. Somehow it seems a little heavy on the left, but then again I love the color of the fallen leaves. A different take from you, but I like it. :toast:

This looks like a mystical forest some where. Great color, texture and repeating patterns.

In some respects this is visual overload, yet at the same time the contrasting tones of greens seem to bring order out of the chaos by creating strong vertical lines (in the darker greens) and the horizontal (in a 3 dimensional sense) leading line of the lighter green in the moss on the fallen log. Overall, it works nicely despite the overload.

You could have pretended to have been in our neck of the woods Bill; this does look like a shot from the Pacific Northwest US. We know how hard it is to get a comp to work in this type of scene. I think this pulls it off, especially the upper left half of the image.

Beautiful, lush and green. Nice composition, too - order out of chaos.

Thanks for your thoughts, comments and feedbacks on this one. As always I really do appreciate it.

@Dietrich ("Didl") Gloger: This exists indeed in Europe. I found this one near Saint Charles in the Gorge de Flumen (French Jura), France. I wanted that this looks a bit dreamy...though it has already a dreamy touch due to the conditions we had there. Processing wise after I brought the RAW files into photoshop I duplicated the layer and gaussian blurred it by about 20 and then used multiply as layer blending option. Then went to the "Blend if" sliders and split the highlights and the darks and finall reduced the opacity to about 30 percent.

Wonderful color and textures! It's great as is but I wouldn't mind seeing the darks brought down a little more to enhance the rainy mood and bring more emphasis to the nice highlights. :toast:

I LOVE this Bill. I've been sitting here taking it all in for several minutes now, and can't find anything I don't like about it. Lovely capture and wonderful processing.

Lots of lovely greens here, Roland, and they're accented nicely by the fallen leaves. Digging a comp. out of a scene like this is very hard and you've done very well here.
