Forget Me Not

It's been a very long time since I've participated on here. Here's a shot of some Forget Me Nots that I've been playing with with my new macro lens. What a fun tool!

Fuji FinePix, my everyday camera is heading for repairs. :(
40mm micro, handheld, 9.5 or 11

Wow…that 40mm macro / micro …brings out the best in this tiny button-size bloom. I like the unopened blooms in deep purple too. DOF is spot-on. Nicely done!

Very nice macro image, Christine! Love these delicate blue flower. . .mine are growing right now too. I like your comp with the buds in front and behind the one blooming flower. Your focus on the yellow center, along with your DOF choice, allows the rest of the image to fade off into an appealing softness.

The color palette of green, cyan, and purple is absolutely gorgeous. What bothers me with this image is the haphazard in-focus-out-of-focus areas. Complete DOF would have been better, especially for the two forward leaves, plus the buds and flower.

Christine:

A fine macro image and love the color palette in this image. The selective DOF of focus works fine here. Might clone away the black dust spot near the edge of the 4 o'clock petal which is in the place of focus.

Very strong comp Christine and beautiful color combination. I also like the light. I might be inclined to bring the dof forward in this but not sure. It's beautiful as posted.

Technical opinions aside, this image is very pleasing to view IMO Christine,
It appears as if you are looking thru a foggy window pain to enjoy the colors and shapes of this small slice of nature. I would agree on cloning out the black spec as Gary mentioned.
Well seen and presented image . . .

Beautifully composed, Christine, with good light and strong colour. Like Michael I do find the focal point just a little confusing on the eye ( the flower centre especially seems a touch soft ) but this is lovely in so many ways.

Christine - Good ideas already from many before me. I like this shot very much, specially the center of the forget me not flower and the inclusion of complementary purples.
