Blackburnian Warbler

Sometimes luck comes at the best time possible. I saw my first Blackburnian Warbler 2 weeks ago and it happen to be at my level. It bounced around and didn't seem to care much about me. The conditions were horrible, but I managed to pull off a few to keep me satisfied. Some minor post production editing to help reduce noise. Handheld.

Canon 7d
Sigma 150-500 @400
1/90 @ f8
ISO 1000

These guys are hard to find at eye level, let alone catch them still. I'm surprised you managed such a sharp capture at 1/90s with any warbler, or is that a type error? Nice that you got the image though, very cool warbler IMO.

A bit soft, but a great pose, Jason. Nice job keeping the typical warbler bg from being too intrusive. I think I'd open the lens up all the way for shots like this. Hand held at 1/90 is not an easy chore and every bit of shutter speed you could get would help.

A great bird in habitat. It looks like your focus point was the leaves just below the bird, just a bit too close for the bird to be entirely sharp. I don't know the Canon 7D, but if it gives you the option try spot focus, and put that spot on the eye of the bird to make sure the most criticl bits are sharp.

I just got back from NY a couple of weeks ago and the woods were just crawling with these warblers. Nice to see that someone took advantage as I left my camera at home. I like the fresh Spring growth. It would be nice if the bird wasn't partially obscured by leaves, but no big deal. The focus on bird is also a little soft. Try locking focus on the eye when you shoot. Nice catch! :toast:
