I spent four days near Seabeck on Hood Canal with the Eagles earlier this week and have finally started getting some of the images sorted out. The sequence from which this was taken is one of my favorites from the first day. The Crows behaved amazingly like the Eagles in searching the oyster beds for Sculpins. I don't know if they deliberately alerted the Eagles to fish too large for them in hopes of gaining scraps or not, but sometimes it seemed that way. In this case an eagle was coming in for a fish and the crows were getting out of its way.

1Div, 500mm + 1.4TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f7.1, 1/1600, iso 500, manual exposure. Processed in LR5 and CS6. Full frame. Taken May 26th at 9:19 am under overcast skies.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Dennis,

I have no idea how you feel about making "distractions" disappear, but I can think of one "famous" bird photographer who would have eliminated the crows
The Eagle itself is great

Excellent details and exposure, the oyster bed FG with its fleeing crows adds great interest Dennis.
Love the setting, head on POV, flared tail, and layered comp :toast: :toast:

Like the crows in the photo. Removed the photo might be better, but the photo as coupled with the story is a ten. :toast:

Excellent story, evident from the photo even without the background narrative. A photo that tells a story well is always great.
