D800 600mm Tripod ISO 400 F8 1/3000

This is a crop to 60% of frame with plenty of room to the right and below the eagle. I am curious for input on whether this crop works with the main character sort of out of position at the bottom right. Kind of breaks the rule of not having your subject leaving the shot.

Bob,
This crop works just fine for me as I think who is the main character in this image is debatable! Great title by the way.
This is one of those scenes that we have all witnessed but very seldom are able to captured for a variety of reasons. Great handling of the harsh lighting, good detail on both subjects and nicely processed.
 Man !

Killer shot - nice exposure and a good size comparison. Hard enough getting one bird in flight and you nailed both.

In my opinion, it works just fine, Bob. The Crow makes an interesting counterweight and shifts the balance of the image away from the Eagle, creating the effect of more space in the LRC. I'd have to see it with more to tell if I prefer it, but I think you just about nailed the proportions. It's nice to have both of them in the focal plane.

Nicely composed and terrific techs. They aren't composition rules; they are guidelines and your shot shows why that's true. Well done.

Bob,
Under ordinary circumstances picts look better when the subject has room to fly into. Since this fellow seems to be chased, the narrower borders give him a place to hide. It works for me. :toast:
