I found this small detail on one of the Ponderosa Pines in a control burn area in Yosemite Valley. The tree was, happily, still alive and well. I really liked the black/red/yellow color, and the sheen on the char.

Strong and rich Preston. It holds my eye and I particularly like the red against the black. A beautiful abstract. No suggestions.

Lots to like here Preston. It reminds me of a jigsaw puzzle with the small shaped bits of bark. The splashes of color look great against the black texture of the burned area. Great job of seeing (and presenting)!

Wonderful abstract, Preston. The texture and color are amazing. I'm pretty sure that you and Harley were the only one wandering around this burn. Not only that , but you both came away with excellent results. Cheers.

i love this preston - great textures and colour here. i wonder if there were any blues in the darker/burnt areas that you might be able to pull out ... might add further interest? i can almost smell it ....

Love it Preston. Fantastic abstract with incredible color and texture and design. Love how you have brought out that charred sheen which gives your image almost a metallic feel. Superb.
