This is the first plant to bloom from my prairie restoration project. Penstamon hirsutus is an uncommon plant found in dry prairies and sand barrens. I was hoping to see what pollinators were going to visit the flowers, but a hungry cottontail had other plans! K5 IIs, ISO 500, 1/400sec, Sigma 180 3.5 macro set at f4.5, stack of 10 images compiled with Zerene stacker (PMAP), levels and brightness in CS5. .................Jim

Jim - Tastefully done with some definition in the background. The fine hairs on the stems have some across nicely and add to the beauty.

Unless there is some significance to the dust spots/small flies I'd clone them all away

Good stack. I looked for all the obvious places for artifact from the stacking, but you seem to have caught them all. I like the PMAP for detail and the DMAP for smooth, noise free backgrounds. I always use DMAP as an editing base and PMAP, as well as individual images for corrections. It winds up being more work, but eventually (most times) a better end result. Whatever your workflow, the truth of stacking is editing and knowing where and how to correct flaws.

Good precise work, this! :toast:

I like the detail in this image and the way the flower pops from the background.

Wonderful detail through out the image and a complimentary background, the larger image looks great.
