A slight contrast to a Sable, this is the rather rare "cousin" of your everyday Gnu.
Found only in South Africa this one was taken in Mokola National park around 50 Km south of Kimberley.

1D MkIV
200-400mm F5 with 1.4 EX at 560mm
F7.1
ISO 800
1/3200

You went from beautiful to, well a face only a mother could love. Great shot though. I like the motion suggested by the flying tail and raised hoof, with a bit of flying dirt under it. That eye is really nice and sharp also. This guy looks a bit thin. Looks to be plenty to eat, however.

Somehow this needs a caption! The lifted front leg adds a lot to the life of the image.

Jerry and Lon,
Thanks a lot, perhaps the caption should be "People think I am Ugly, Why?"

Hello Ken

A Very interesting Specimen with great features .

Like Lon said, the front raised legs adds overall ... But I prefer the timing with that front leg more in front , which would give you a dynamic forward motion feeling.
Also would enjoy a closer detailed look of the Head & Shoulders, Like a Portrait! This guy with his unusual & striking features would Jump out at you!

You suddenly seem to be posting a rash of rare creatures, Ken. First, the caracal, then the sable, and now this! You are one helluva lucky guy!
