What's THAT?

This blue jay seems to be questioning me about my placement of the "water wiggler" in his birdbath. Another "through double paned glass" save through artistic rendering  This was also a pretty major crop, so the resolution wasn't going to be perfect, anyway. But, for this week's challenge, I thought it was pretty good...The birds really DID question the water wiggler at first!

Funny capture, Lucy. That blue jay really is checking out that strange object! I like whatever processing you did to "save" this image. Has a real artsy look.

Thanks Carolyn,
I used Topaz Clarity....I really like it for turning those "just OOF" photos into keepers

West Nile really wiped out the blue jays here a number of years ago. And, I think, I only have this fella and maybe one other blue jay. So, I'm really excited to see him hanging around my patio.

It's been so long since I've seen one close up, that I had never noticed the brown fluff of feathers on top of his beak...and never realized that they could have brownish undersides. Does anyone know if this is a male or seasonal coloration?

A cute pose, and a terrific job with the processing, Lucy. Goes well with the subject. Nice "save." :toast:

Blue Jays are the clowns of North American avifauna. A fine capture illustrating how they earned the reputation.
