Spotlit Fawn

by Howard Cheek

First WT fawn I've shot this spring. Mostly in shadow, with the sun breaking through the surrounding trees.
I don't often visit this gallery, some fine images here.
F/8, 1/800th, ISO 500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 @ 9:39am & mostly sunny.
Some add lens blur at the edges..

Wonderful shot, Howard. A real cutie. The head in the sun with the rest mostly in shade certainly draws your attention to the important part of the animal. Nice rich colors. Well composed and captured. Wonder where mama is?

Howard agree with the others poking it's head into the light makes this for me, real cute little chap.

And you just added another fine image Howard! As per the others, I also appreciate that only the head is in the sunlight - it adds to the sense of timid curiosity :toast:

I really like the selective light on his head Howard and the oOF purple flowers adds to his innocence.

Great catch, Howard, with the head nicely lit to emphasize that "who's there" expression. Haven't seen our first fawns of the year, but momma's been hanging out at the edge of the yard, so I assume it's just a matter of time.

You have the 'sun breaking through' at the right spot! Very endearing image!
