I like it -- good handling the detail in both blacks and whites -- the catch is an added bonus -- nicely done

Ray,
Terrific light. I can see how long the shadows are so you were early morning or late in the day to grab this beautiful image. Nice low perspective as well. The detail on the whites and the blacks is excellent. And hes' got a meal to boot. Every time I see one of these birds I think of what a funny joke the master designer was playing when he stuck those legs on such a beautiful and colorful bird. Excellent in every way Ray!

Large view looks very nice Ray, perfect exposure and warm colors.
I especially like the directional evening light with its long shadows, and this behavioral action of course.
Beautiful shot of this pied oystercatcher, it doesn't get much better that this :toast: :toast:

Gorgeous light, excellent details in both B & W. I like the low perspective and the dof you chose...just enough hint of the breaking surf behind. The pose and prey put it over the top! Really nice. Sharon

Really nice low angle, good job on the techs and of course the meal is a huge plus. I was fortunate enough to see these once when I went to the California coast and could not get remotely close to them....but it made me really fascinated with these birds. Nice work Ray.

Ray,
What a great look at this Oystercatcher, the details, the colors, the action and the lighting all superb plus you get to be on the beach, life is good !
As far as the legs, I like' um. They resemble my knotty knee, pasty white, skinny old man legs and they still get me to my next meal.
 Man !
