Burrowing Owl at Zanjeros Park -- Chandler, Arizona

1/3200 at f9 and ISO640
Canon 500mm

Owlet believed to be about 6 weeks old trying to get a good foothold on the perch

Wishing for a bit more room at the top -- but its just not there

This is just over the top, Scott. I love the brown and tan color palette. You could always add a bit of canvass on top, but it's pretty impressive as is.

Terrific, Scott. Perfect timing. I'd consider adding a bit of canvas to the top. It's a bit tight, but not so tight as to hurt a really nice shot.

Scott,
Would prefer more room at the top like you but it does not hurt the image much. Great wing spread, good look at the eyes and the pupils, and the perch is very nice. Gotta love these guys when they have all the chocolate coloration.

Looks grat, Scott. The spread wings and the look that you're getting are fantastic. It would be easy to add a sliver of canvas to the top, and I think it would help the image, but I like it as is too. :toast:

Really cute little owl. Love the perch and the colors, those yellow eyes certainly stand out. Wonderful!

Scott: Very nice. I really like the perch. That outstretched wings are superb and the fact the owl was looking directly at you really adds to this. I'd certainly look at adding a bit of canvas to the top.

Really nice pose you captured and the perch is cool, too. Agree with the others about adding some to the top, but this is super nice! Sharon

I really like the outstretched wings, the dried cholla (guessing) perch and the techs. I do wish (like others) for more room at the top, but still a very nice image Scott. nice work!

Agree a bit more at the top would have been nice, but it's a great image as posted, feather detail is excellent.
