Backlit Geranium
by Thomas Haney
This weekend I did a 15 mile out and back hike up the Buffalo Plateau Trail near the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone, and although I only came across one buffalo, it was a great trip. The hike climbs about 2000 feet through a vast open prairie before entering some beautiful woods and eventually passing through an old burn. I must have passed about 15 elk sheds within 5 feet of the trail, so maybe it would be a good hike to do in the fall also for more wildlife. In the evening I decided to focus on these wild Geraniums that were interspersed with the Lupine and other flowers, and settled on a backlit portrait just as the sun was setting over the mountains. This flower is commonly knows as the Sticky Geranium, and it seems pretty clear why when the sun is behind it.

Well presented . . .
Take care.
A beautiful image. Well done
I would not mind a small crop from the top either.
