Morning Dew

Prickly Pear Cactus Flower
Leica V-Lux 3 P&S
Program mode: F5.2, 1/1000, ISO-100, 108mm, 4.75 max. aperture
Taken handheld in a nature center garden. Capturing dew on a plant is always intriguing to me with the transparency it provides. The cactus flower itself is such a departure from the rest of the plant.

Maureen - Nicely done. Love the lighting that has highlighted all the dew. A bit more light for the stem below might have anchored the shot better.

Maureen: Welcome to NPN in general and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet in particular. Ditto your comments on cactus flowers. This is a fine first post here. I'm assuming this is flashed and if so you did a nice job of not having the flash overpower the natural light. Great to have you aboard and looking forward to more.>=))>

Maureen,
Welcome to NPN, sweet 1st post with very nice detail and a great BG that really sets the subject off well.
I especially like the lighting from below on this one, it creates very interesting shadows and highlights the droplets beautifully. I do agree with Ram on the stem lighting.
Well seen, well presented, well done . . . :toast:

Well done, except the stem could use more light. Welcome to Flora! I am looking forward to more of your images.

Nice close up with the dew drops especially for a cactus flower. I also like Ram idea of seeing the stem to anchor the image just a bit. Welcome to NPN.

Love the high contrast lighting, Maureen, along with the petal textures and the sharp droplets. I will echo comments about the stem lighting but otherwise I think this a fine image. Hope to see many more from you !!!
