Fairy Falls

I know that Fairy Falls has a been shot a million times. However, it was my first time to the Columbia River gorge and seeing all of those great falls. This is one of my favorites. Interestingly it is easy to get to and is quite small in comparison to most of the others. It is something about the blacks that draws me in.

C&C appreciated.

Beautiful Gary. This looks so refreshing (not just the falls, but the image too). The white balance of the water looks spot on to me, although this monitor is uncalibrated. My only suggestion might be to apply a little more burning/dodging to bring out some of the nuances in the greenery.

That is a beautiful falls, Gary! The moss covered rocks and highlighted leaves surrounding the falls really makes for a wonderful look and feel. I too like the dark areas in this and like you it seems to draw me in. Not sure but maybe toning the brightest highlights at the top of the falls might work. Very nice!

That's really nice Gary. It's not always easy to get a clean comp of Fairy; this works well.

Beautiful cascade - nice lighting particularly on the left side. Wish I could see the top of the waterfall and also the very top is a little hot - maybe you can town that section down. Nice Shutterspeed choice

I really like the comp you chose here Gary. The square aspect ratio work very well. I would pull back the brightest highlights just a bit, but otherwise, this looks great to me.

The way the falls angles and broadens across the frame works very well and your shutter speed shows off all the steps in the falls nicely. This is nicely done. I do agree that pulling more out of the greens, especially in the bottom 1/4 would create additional interest.

So what that this falls been photographed a million times--this one is yours, and I like what you've done here. The water looks great, except that the very top looks a little hot. I like the light and the composition works nicely.
