This is very similar to your previous post. However, I believe this one, while still somewhat soft, is sharper. A shutter speed of 1/60s at a focal length of 300mm, is still just not fast enough. A good rule of thumb is the shutter speed should be at least 1/focal length. In your case, a shutter speed of 1/300s would have resulted. Bumping the ISO to 320 (relatively low) would have given you a shutter speed close to 1/300s. Shutter speed versus ISO is a constant decision we all have to make. You did manage a slightly better look at the cubs in this image. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Reiner,

Looks like you had some good fun watching this trio - watching a mother nurse is always interesting, and even more so with cubs of the year (so tiny!).

My comments largely mirror what Jerry said - so ditto what he said (including on the shutter speed issue). I don't know the characteristics of the image sensor of the 70D too well, but assuming you could go considerably higher than ISO 100 (thus giving you the option of more shutter speed) without noticeably image degradation...

A bit unfortunate that you clipped a bit of mom's right leg on the left side of the frame - little thing (in the big picture!) but for some it will draw attention to itself.

Cheers...

Brad
