This image has a lot going for it. Good eye contact with mom. TWO babies. Killer background. A great, gnarly perch. My only wish is for more eye contact with the two youngsters. That, and mabe a little less centered, if you have more room on the left. Nice capture.

Ronald,

Always nice to see baboons, I agree with Jerry regarding the eye contact

Hi Ronald,

I quite like this shot. The tree adds a very nice natural frame, the young baboons are clearly "hyper-active" to the point of looking like little pests to the mom (nice story conveyed there), great eye contact with mom, and a completely non-distracting and clean background. I personally like the positioning of mom in the frame - I have no issue with her being centred somewhat, and the position of her head in the frame is close to optimal (for me, anyway!).

On the technical side - you seem to have some pretty pronounced chromatic aberration going on at the bottom of the frame (red fringing on edge of the trunk). That can be cleaned up in post-processing (and is likely a function of having the 1.4x TC on). There also seems to be a little tonal compression going on in the bark-less trunk in the same part of the frame - not really looking like JPEG compression...so likely another thing that can be dealt with in post processing...

But despite small (and easily-remedied) technical glitches, I think this is quite the compelling photo - well done!

Cheers...

Brad

This is a great shot and shows how busy it is to be a mom. The eye contact from mom is all you need--the offspring are always oblivious to any possible dangers. Well done......................................Jim
