This enormous boulder came to rest Mirror Lake in Yosemite in the dim past. It's probably been photographed millions of times, but I said, "Why not. Let's see what I can do with it."

Nikon D-7100
Nikkor 18-140mm @ 45mm
F-14 @1/5s, ISO 200
TK's Masks
Cropped from both sides and a bit from the bottom.
May 2014

Please see the large version. Thanks!

A simple subject, very effectively presented. Much detail to be enjoyed in the large version.

I am looking at almost the same exact image on my office wall, 16x20 print. Eerie!

I think I shot that when I was 13 years old (I'm 47)! But I also still love it! I think this is a nice shot if it, worth taking.

Lots of presence in the image Preston. It holds my interest and I think I'd enjoy looking at it every day. Very serene and peaceful - I particularly like the reflections of the trees around the rock.

The mystery is a strong attraction. I can see where this is an icon.

Very cool, Preston. It may have been shot a million times but I've never seen it, love the comp and the details are excellent. Quite a gem.

Preston, you caught a quiet peaceful mood, which makes this very appealing in my opinion, beautiful natural color, and the detail is amazing, and I also like the slight ripple in the water, helps break up the reflections just enough. All and all, beautiful work as always.

SWEET. The epitome of tranquility. The BG color makes the monochrome rock stand out even more.

Looks like a giant gemstone because of the reflection. Good eye to see the photographic potential of this scene, Preston.

The reflection certainly turns this into the Rock.
