A portrait of a Wild Dog in fabulous light with a stunning background. Image captured in Sabi Sands in the Greater Kruger region in South Africa. This is a member of the Kruger Pack which has recently moved in to this area where they have not had a resident pack since 1989 so quite a special sighting.

EOS 1DX - EF200-400mm f4.0L IS USM - 560mm - 1/320 sec @ f5.6 - ISO 800

African wild dogs really do look painted, each one differently painted, and this image really emphasizes that characteristic of the species. My only nit, is that I would reduce the highlight a tad on the left side (image) of the head (right side of the animal) to bring out detail at the bases of the hairs. I like the out-of-focus vegetation in the background, and the grasses on the left -- they add realism/context to the image. Ron Davis

I really like the color and dof of this image and the light is sweet.

Mario.
This is a delight, even more delightful is the news of the return of the Wild Dog. :toast: :toast:

The expression is emotive and you handled exposure and processing very well. Good work. To me the grasses on the left are a bit of detraction and likely limited your composition choices. Love the eyes!
