I found these thistle buds to be worthy of a few clicks! Pretty much out of camera, without processing except cropped for ratio and sharpened for web.

Hi Lon,

Wonderful colors and composition. I'd like to see the sharpness extend to the center of the flower as my only nit. The larger version shows some nice details...........................Jim

Lon - Good to see you posting here. Excellent portrait of a colorful and layered Thistle. Cannot ask for a cleaner background to make the Thistle stand out.

I like your angle for the shot which has made the top face of the Thistle so nicely visible. But I do think if the DOF extended a bit more behind the center, it would have looked great as well.
