Liked catching one of my all time favorite birds in the act of getting a drink at a manmade ( unfortunately) water feature.

Hi Bob,

Water is water and I believe you have captured the waxwing doing something we rarely see. The lighting is very strong with stark shadows which is somewhat distracting. There is some moire patterns in the wing feathers visible in the large view and these are my only nits. I like the colors which are rich and help show off the bird from the surrounding rocks. Well done considering the difficult lighting conditions......................Jim

Very nice, Bob. The tones of the water feature fit well with those of the Waxwing. Beautiful detail in the plumage, though I think I'd back off on hte sharpening just a bit-the plumage looks a bit too coarse for this species in the larger image.

Oh wow--I love waxwings but have never gotten a picture of one drinking before! The colours are incredible!! His perch is really cool, too. At first I thought there was something in his beak but now I can see it's just a shadow. We just started seeing a few waxwings around this month near our home so I can't wait to have one close enough to photograph again.
