Nice one, Mike! I LOVE your comp here and the subtle background moss and trees add a lot. The perch is fantastic as well. The tones in those breast feathers and the amazing talons make it even more special for me. I'm envious...despite a lot of miles and hours of trying, barred owls have eluded Jenaya, Josiah and I.

Mike, I think you handled the flash well here. It's too easy to bring out the background in these situations, but as John said, you were able to keep it subtle. I like the composition, though I think a slight crop from the left would be fine to remove a sliver of the empty black space.

I like the pose, perch and glare you are getting form this guy Mike. Looks to be very sharp, but hard form me to tell with not having a large version to view. Nice work :toast:

Very nice work with flash here Mike. Love the composition as posted, but I think you might have brought it in a tad tighter from both sides-just a thought.

This is an awesome picture! I can't believe you got this Barred Owl so sharp with so much detail after dark! His perch is really cool. It's nice to see his talons, too.

Nicely done Mike! Flash was used perfectly and the owl is isolated from the dark background :toast: ..........................Jim
