I really like the delicate texture displayed in the feather details. Nice one legged perch in some even and subdued light. Just the right amount of highlight on the head, sweet. :toast:

Good image: nice feather detail, and good placement of zoomed-in bird in the frame. However, I find it difficult to see detail in the shaded parts of the bird. It may just be a matter of style, but I would have brightened the bird more, not so much as to blow out the whites, but to bring out even more feather detail. Also, a brighter bird would grab more attention away from the blotchy background. Bird guidebooks show the crown, nape, and belly of this species as closer to white than you have them, and my recollection of numerous sightings of the species agrees. Brightening the bird (not the background) would bring him closer to the way he might have really been. Of course, it's possible that your bird was atypical for the species. Well, that's the way I see it. I'd be interested in your response. Ron

Ron had some interesting thoughts, worth pursuing. The bird is OK, but I thought there might be more detail there. Standing out more from the BG would bump this up a notch, if it's doable.

Lovely bird. The detail is very good. I think it looks great as is.

Sandy,
Great pose here, did you have your earplugs in
The colours do however seem to be a bit"odd", as Ron stated the crown nape and belly should be white, but then birds do vary a lot. :toast: :toast:

Nice, Sandy. Was this on the edge of some water? It looks like there's a glow on the underside of the bird.
