Olympus E-5, 300mm f2.8, lying on ground
f8, 1/200, ISO400, -1ev

It's been an record-rainy summer here; I'm reduced to going through old photos and pruning. I cam across this shot from a 2010 trip to Gold Harbor on South Georgia Island. I like the goofy look on the chick. You can see I was struggling with the whites and blacks...

Full frame. Selective sharpening to birds.

Makes me appreciate my Canon 1D-X.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Awww! The chick is so cute! It almost looks like he's getting squished by his mom, though!

I like how the chick is looking right at you and the way he's leaning a little. It makes it more interesting I think.

Also the feather detail is really cool on both the mom and the baby. The feathers on the mom's tummy almost looks like fur!

Hi Jim, cute factor is very high on this. I would love to get the opportunity to photograph Penguins. Maybe someday. This seems just a tad dark to me. Nice shot!

You're really going back, Jim. I remember when you were posting all these. I like the poses and agree that the expression on the chick is endearing. Excellent detail and a nice job handling that difficult exposure.

Very cool indeed. Its a little dark on my monitor, but there's lots of detail in those feathers and the chick is very interested in what you were doing on that day.................Jim

I really like the head positions here Jim with the baby looking straight forward and the adult to the side. I wish there was some more light in the eyes of both birds, You could try to pull some out with a selective adjustment. :toast:
