Ginger Snaps + v2

Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 400 1/1000 @ f4

I indulged myself with a trip to the Mercer Arboretum last Saturday. I was hoping to shoot water lilies but didn't find any suitable subjects. However all was not lost as there were a number of hidden ginger flowers waiting for me to snap a few shots. I shot this comp with a number of different f-stops. I'm partial to this shallow DOF version but have also posted the f11 shot for comparison. All comments welcome.>=))>

This is REALLY nice Bill. Great tones and excellent lines. I really like the first one a lot better than the second one. I think taking some time to clean up those dust spots on the near petal edge would benefit the shot. Excellent!

I'll go with the first Bill. I haven't seen that color in the Hidden Gingers around here; more a mix of white and purple. Regardless, a sterling composition as is. :toast:

Bill - I like the First one (even though you show that one also as f/11, should it have been f/5.6 ?). I might either clone some color or crop from the left to make that small triangle in the upper left corner go away.

Very nice looking abstract.
Ram: Thanks for catching the incorrect data. It was actually shot at f4. Will correct the info. . Bill

I also like the more abstract look of the first, Bill. The pof on the two petal edges is right on the money. :toast:

Bill, I like the first one best. It really sings and pulls me into the frame. Plus it has a bit of mystery to it.

Gorgeous, Bill !! Absolutely no doubt in my mind about the superiority of the shallow version - it has a wonderful sense of depth and even mystery about it - brings to mind landscapes with mists curling around the mountain peaks. Very fine image.
