Reverse Swept Wing 'V'

The Giant Swallowtail may not move at supersonic speeds..
But it sure seems like it when you're trying to photograph em'
This one had an unnaturally blue tarp in the BG I had forget to remove. So I made this B&W in Nik, using a touch of sepia tone.

It looks to me like it's built backwards when it comes to going supersonic. The V shows very well, Howard, and I really like the clarity of the gray tones through the back parts of the wings. I think going b&w here was a fine way to emphasize the shape regardless of the background.

"V"ery nice, Howard! The V is clear. I laughed when I read your supersonic speed comment - it's so true! (I get very frustrated trying to shoot b-flies and bees.) Nice job on the processing too.

Here's the original with a blue tarp in the BG.
I had moved some stuff from the storage shed, & temporarily covered it..

The colors in the repost work very well. Your tarp does a fine sky imitation.

I'm highly flattered by the title change, Howard.

This is an outstanding in-flight capture, Howard. The ST looks so graceful and you absolutely nailed the focus. I especially like the color version. I would have assumed the blue is from the sky. Great stuff. :toast:

Howard, had you not said anything, I would have thought the blue tarp was just sky. I must say I like the color version better.

As per the others Howard, I also would have seen the tarp as sky, had you not mentioned it. I do like the ST in colour, but I'm waffling on which BG. Either way, I love what you achieve with these butterflies, and it is a nice 'sweeping V' :toast:
