Nikon D700
Nikon 80-200 @ 200mm
f 18 @ 1/20 sec.
ISO 200
tripod
MLU & cable release

After spending the night in the tent with a light weight sleeping bag; and the temps in the mid 30's; I was really glad to get up and get moving to try and warm up.

Mike and I drove up to Sugar Hill and were greeted with this beautiful sunrise.

As always thanks for looking and leaving a comment or suggestion.

Beautiful sunrise Ed, really like the misty mood you captured, along with the softly lit sky. Its always worth it when you awaken to something like this. Beautifully seen and presented.

Lovely scene, Ed. The sequence of ridges with a touch of fog works well and the sky colors give a very inviting warmth that I'll bet you were feeling in your bones after a cold night.

Nice layers, and I like the soft light. The fog adds a nice feel to this. Just a thought, but you might consider cropping out the bright spot in the sky. Doing so would smooth out the tone in the sky and put the distant ridge a little higher in the frame. It's nice as presented, though, Ed.

Thanks for your comments, John, Mark and Preston.
Preston: I almost did that and changed my mind. I am thinking I should have went with my first instinct and cropped like your suggestion.

I like the quiet look and feel to the scene, Ed. Even the primary color has a softness to the image. A good feeling all around there. For me it's the layers that seem to add a bit of overall depth here in the dim morning light. Although the not view looking cold we know that is not any indication of how frigged things can be out there. Nice work here.....

Edit: I like the repost and had thought about Preston's idea and or a toning of the highlight area. Regardless, seems better overall with that being addressed.

The repost looks good, Ed.
It made the FG look brighter and the fog more prominent.
Very nice soft look to this....
