Rock Garden

Here's another from the archive that I've not posted here. Lon and I were working this spot near Sonora Pass one afternoon. It was kind of funny in a way because we'd wait for the wind to stop, but the sun would emerge from a cloud. When the sun went behind a cloud, the wind would start again. This performance went on for a while until the right combination of no wind and light finally happened. I was able to make only a single exposure.

Tachihara 4x5
Fujinon 180mm
Astia 100F
Cropped a bit from the left and bottom.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Your thoughts are always appreciated.

Been there.

For me, this is a perfect arrangement of elements. And the contrasting colors set it off well.

This is what I love in photography, and you see it and capture it so well. Love this, color, light, composition, perfect in every way. Beautiful work Preston.

Real pretty scene, Preston. It is very minor, but I might try warming it up a bit and see how it reacts? Like I said, quite minor.

Ah, back in the days the Sierra had water. :)

Well worth the persistence to catch the right conditions, Preston. The large version is a real treat with lots of wildflowers and details to enjoy.

I love this small natural garden here, Preston. As always Astia brings the best out in greens and yellows. Hard to figure Fuji's thoughts on dropping it in all sizes. But, we move on and make the best of other films available.

The only thought for change here is minor IMO. Just a way to break up the eye draw toward the yellow / orange color streak on the front right edge of the rock. I think because it is so close to the wonderful flower arrangement it seems to be part of the immediate eye attraction. Just a thought on that small item. Otherwise, this is a favorite for me of your recently posted scenes.

No doubt in my mind that they'd like to see this over in Flora Preston. I love the subtle comp, the rich textural contrast between the stone and flora as well as the color. Don't think it gets any better than this.
