I found this crab spider lurking in a Great Blue Lobelia flower (Lobelia siphilitica). I've seen several different skipper butterflies frequent these flowers over the last few weeks but as the sun started hitting this flower, the crab spider moved away. This is a 25 shot stack. (5D3, 100mm macro + 36mm ET, 1/50s, f/8, iso 200, tripod)

Took me a moment to figure out what I was looking at. Very cool. Looks like you have the stacking thing pretty well under control.

Hi Mark,

Lobelia flowers have a lot of hidden details which are revealed in a macro shot. The comp is nice and the sharpness for the two flowers was handled perfectly with your stacking :toast: ...........................Jim

Great job with the stack, Mark. Almost an incredibly in focus abstract, in that the subject is not readily apparent, but once found, is delightful. I could also see a crop, maybe square, with just the spider and those water droplets. I reckon the wind was minimal in order to pull this off. Really nice work. :toast:

Well stacked, Mark. I see no obvious artifacts. A tough one to stack right!

Outstanding image, Mark. I wasn't sure the stack was perfect, so I stood on my head in front of my monitor to look at this and, yes, perfect. Seriously, the detail in the spider is wicked and I love the way is looks against the lobelia. :toast:

Amazing detail on two subjects, Mark. The flower has a strange structure. Looks like the little spider is hiding in the batman helmet. Very interesting!
