Galapagos Land Iguana

Another shot from our most recent Galapagos tour on North Seymour Island. This Land Iguana raised up to feed on this cactus momentarily. I liked the behavior and the fact that he was standing up as well as the cactus. I am not too fond of the oof cactus at the bottom but I tried a horizontal crop, I didn't have many pixels left and it took away from the feeling of him standing. I don't have more room at the bottom.

Neat photo. I don't mind the OOF cactus at the bottom and the angle makes it look like he is licking the very, very spiny cactus. Tough guy! The bright colors of the iguana relative to the cactus as well as the bright eye and pink tongue really draw your eye to the right spot. I do wish I could see a version where you could see the whole animal standing up, Godzilla like.

Wow, Nate, this has a special quality of soft dreamy light and exotic subject. The coloration is arresting, too! You have identified the only noticeable nit of the oof cactus at bottom. I think I would go ahead and crop some from bottom (maybe middle of hole in cactus) and perhaps a bit from sides for proportion. The standing posture and outstretched foreleg and bit of tongue really give this a nice action dynamic.

Nate: VERY cool subject and great, interesting image! The textures are awesome between the cactus and the Iguana's skin. I love the tones as well. I might lean toward Lon's suggestion re a bit off the bottom and both sides, though I understand your rationale here. Really neat capture.

Really like the texture of the skin and the color of those land iguanas are super cool. Nice job of pulling off what could have been a very busy image Nate. I like how the cactus frames the head in the image tom above, but might consider cropping most of the OOF focus part on the bottom. Since you don't have the full animal in the fame, I don't think keeping it adds a lot.
