Light shining on this lily really showed off the bright color and beautiful shape. I thought this point of view, showing the translucent petals, worked well.

Thanks as always for your comments.

Sanjay

Well doen, Sanjay. Wonderful comp and lighting, and the dark bg works really well for the orange lily. :toast:

Great curves and nice lighting Sanjay. The shot from the back works really well. I like it.

Oh, yes! This presentation dramatizes the lily well! The areas of highlight are perfect for shaping the flower, especially near the base. Excellent!

Ahhh…this is very art-worthy with the light piercing the petals and the two leafs spiking upward to add interest and balance. Smooth and sweeping curves seem heightened by the light. Well done.

Sanjay - Pretty stunning light there, Sanjay. Great perspective and details seen through the back-lighting.

While this is great as is, if the leaf gods lined up in your favour differently, it would have created better harmony I guess.

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for your comments. I did take a few without including the leaves (Ram: The leaf God's were taking a break then  ). Here is that version. I thought the original (with the leaves) added some balance. Would love to hear your opinion of this 'leaf-less' version.

Thanks,

Sanjay

Sanjay, I did not necessarily mean leafless composition. I meant for example, leaf on either side of the stem..bracketing the stem in a way and such cases.

I do like the repost also.

A flower painted with the light on the blackboard. I always love the transparencies of the petals. Sanjay I prefer the version with the leaves that add something to the subject and the composition; at least the smaller one only.
Take care.
