Family Memories

Well, I've lived in Alberta for over 25 years now, but my parents and one brother still live back in Quebec. My moms' birthday is only 5 days apart from my own, and in 2006 she came to visit for that week.

We went to the zoo on her birthday. Before coming, she had asked my nephew (who was 9 at the time) what his favorite animal was, and he answered "Meerkat".... so this was something we just had to do on that visit

It was taken with my old Rebel XT and a 75-300 mm kit lens at 135mm, ISO 400, 1/400s at f/5.0.

What an amazing pose, I love this, she is actually smiling for the camera. Beautiful work Karen, memories, what photography is all about.

Karen, I would say that these little guys are a favorite with the patrons at any zoo the Meerkats are on display. We have a group at the Living Desert reserve in Palm Desert, CA. and their area is always surrounded by a crowd.

A wonderful capture of this individual sitting up in what is a common and very natural position for them to be in, especially in the wild while on guard. Nice capture.

How much did it cost in model fees for the perfect pose, Karen? The pose is great, the sharpness on the Meerkat is complete and the background nicely soft and complementary. A great photo along with a terrific memory.

A family photo!? It makes me wonder what your Grandfather looked like! Just kidding, Karen  It's a nice capture that shows a hint of their very human like personalities.

Karen,
Great pose as mentioned and I also like the perch. The side lighting you managed here is what really makes this image for me, it shows off the fur detail and gives the subject a 3D quality against that sweet BG that is very nice.
Well Done . . . :toast:
