At Seaworld in 1993. The camera was an N2020, Nikon's first AF camera. 70-210 f4 lens, my first AF lens. Film might have been Fujifilm Provia, but that's a guess.

I had meant to post this in The Eyes Have It weekly challenge last month, but procrastination bested me.

This would work very well in either challenge, Buck. I sure like all of the subtle shades of red and how they're accompanied by changes in texture. The eye makes for a great focal point. Getting in close like this is also neat because it creates an interesting sense of abstraction in the midst of all the details.

Nice soft light that has rendered subtle shades of red, great textures too Buck.
Very good details at this size, love that eye! :toast:

Great composition, detail and color in this capture, Buck! Looks like that early AF was pretty darn good. The exposure was perfect also. A beautiful shot and definitely something to be fond of :toast:

Simply gorgeous. Excellent work here with film, might even be Velvia maybe?
Regardless, the finer detail, color, and of course the composition are wonderful, Buck.

Great texture in the feathers and the color just pops. The sharp eye gives a great point of focus to the image.

The rich, nuanced color and fine detail in the feathers makes this a stand-out shot for sure! And then there's..... THE EYE!
Sensational. Congrats on the Pick, Buck.

Pretty cool. The black pupil and eye almost seems haunting against the feathers and pink/orange color.

Hi Buck! I missed this when you posted it given a heavy schedule lately but my eye went right to it on the Weekly Pick thumbs. So, for starters, congrats on the award! Next, really cool image! Love the look of the feathers around the eye...great scan and processing too, IMO. You gave me a shot of nostalgia in your notes as I went from a Nikon FM and FG to an N2020 and the same lens! That lens did me proud throughout my time with that body and later, an F-601 (Canadian models) and F-801, then I "upgraded to a 2.8 when I got an F90X and F4s. Still thought that f/4 packed a punch especially for the price and size. In any event, it served you well here. Nicely seen, captured and brought into the digital era.
