Hummer season in my area is over, they headed south on October 3rd just like clockwork as they have done in the three years I have been trying to photograph them. I have started to sort through the 800 or so frames I took this year to see what I had and I liked this one a lot although the BG is a bit busy. Working from blind, 70% of full frame.

Mike: I like the pose of the two hummingbirds with the flower between them. The image has a very strong flash look to it with deep shadows and clearly flashed birds. I see the flash compensation was at - 1 1/3. Maybe try getting the flash off angle and a little above the birds might help the results.

Excellent job stopping these 2 guys in flight with one flash Mike. I wish the background was lighter to make it look less flashed but I understand the difficult of this shot with just one flash, if you mix in too much natural light you don't end up stopping the wings. I'm guessing your shutter speed was 1/250 not 1/2500? :toast:

I, too, would lighten the center a bit. Maybe you can use the black slider and dial it back a bit.
That said, your composition is absolutely PERFECT :toast: WOW

In all the years I've shot hummers, never managed two this detailed/sharp in one frame Mike.
The perfect title, well done! :toast:

Very impressive. Though disagree with Nate in that I'd like to see the background darker or more muted.
