This is another in a series of mating displays by the male for the female on the branch. Not sure if she is impressed or not. She has that 10000 yard stare.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 200-400mm 400mm ISO800 f/8 1/1250 white balance auto hand held Processed in Lightroom, PSCC1 and NIK.

Great capture Patrick, I have just been in South Africa and had seen and shot this behavior and when you posted your first image of this I thought you were down there as well until I read your post. Nice that you got some sunlight on him even though she is in the shade. :toast:

I could tell, that I loved this photo from the thumbnail :toast: :toast: :toast: Only suggestion, would be to "throw a bit" of light on the object of his affection. Just cannot tell you enough, what a wonderful capture this is :jump:

Great pose and composition, Patrick. The blurred wingtips and tail feathers add a lot. You even got the bird in the open against a sweet background. :toast:

Are they native to the US?

Such an interesting image! The female looks very plain (like the House Finch female). The things males have to do, sometimes, in the bird realm is amazing!

awesome capture Patrick.
The male is spectacular, the female - as you say - looks totally disinterested.
No real niggles, but it would be nice if the light on the female was as beautiful as the light on the male. :toast:
