This busy little scene caught my eye; colored rock, veins, cacti and layers off into the distance.

Along the trail to Wildrose Peak, Death Valley.

Raw file processed in LR5, with TK resize/sharpening for web.
Canon T3i, 1/500 s, f/10, ISO 400, EFS 10-22 mm @ 13 mm, CPL

Please view the large image!

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

It is a nice and colorful little desert scene and turned out well for the light conditions. I find the background sky pulls my attention out of the good things going on in the foreground. I might play with cropping it down to eliminate the sky.

I like Harley's suggestion as there's not a lot of interest out in the distance especially given the mid-day light. The colored rock patterns are the star here. The image also feels a bit oversharpened for my taste.

I like Harley's crop suggestion for this desert scene, Ronald. For me this is all about the colorful rock and cacti in the FG and the crop places more of an emphasis on that. Just a suggestion of course. Great eye to spot this.

Very nice detail and colors in the fore ground Ronald. I too like it with most of the sky cropped to bring focus to the fore ground but very nice as is.

I agree with the other comments, Ronald. If you want to maintain the layered look, you might consider cropping down from the top in order to make the mountain on the left less domineering. The color and detail look good to me. You did a nice job, given the light you had to work with.

Nice framing of the image Ronald, and I concur with the other comments about the crop form he top. I love the colors and details in the foreground.

Ronald, I really like the view as is. It would be nicer in softer light, but still a neat scene overall. Not sure I would crop the sky out entirely, but I could see a happy midway down point to bring viewing focus more forward. Still works fine as is also.

Seeing your DVNP image here has me thinking forward to my upcoming trip there in November too......thanks for sharing this.

I sure do like the colored rocks, the cactus, and how you've arranged them, Ronald. I to think that the background only adds subtly to the scene, so a crop down to the rocks would focus attention on the best part.

I agree with the others on the crop, but I also like the sense of the long view. So, I'd leave some of the sky in. Love the foreground elements in their colorful surround. Nice find!

The FG is so strong and beautiful here that the BG almost weakened the shot (even though it is very nice on it's own). I love the texture and color of the rock, and the composition is very nice too.
